~ What is a Healing Mantra? ~

In the ancient Eastern traditions Healing Mantras have been used for promoting and enhancing health and well-being, as well as for protection.

Speech, the ability to verbalize a thought or idea is considered the essence of being human. Ultimately all that we collectively think as humanity happens in our material creation and reality.

The expression of an idea or thought in action has its basis in sound whether as a subliminal thought process or expressed verbally through the spoken word. According to scientific research both subliminal thoughts and verbalized expressions carry the same impact and power at the subconscious level which is thought to comprise 99.9% of what underlies material manifestation. In other words, as you think so are you!

Many ancient traditions, as well as more modern ones use incantations and affirmations or mantras to empower actions. To do this consciously is considered by many traditions to be necessary for spiritual advancement and part of an evolutionary lifestyle.

Mantras are energy-based sounds. It is scientifically known that any word produces an actual physical vibration. This is one level of understanding for the transmission or vocalization of words.  

Another level for understanding is intent. Certain sounds have been measured and the resulting brain waves produced mapped concurrently with the sounds. For instance ancient sacred mantras repeatedly sounded by Tibetan monks produce quite remarkable gamma brain wave states. Brain waves are transmissions of energy that carry mental intent. Over time, as we know what the intention of a particular vibration is as with a Healing Mantra then it comes to have a meaning associated with the effect of saying that sound vibration or word.

Actual physical vibration when coupled with a mental intention, or visualization, so the vibration then contains an additional mental component, enhances the results produced by the sounds. Traditionally color and symbols have been used with Healing Mantras.

In modern times an example of this would be athletes who are trained to condition their minds for success by rehearsing the results they want to achieve prior to an actual competition.
