SWEET MARJORAM ( Origanum marjorana ) – Like the fresh herb Sweet Marjoram has a spicy, warm, soothing aroma and is relaxing, comforting and calming to the nervous system.
Marjoram may be helpful for relieving anxiety attacks, aid depression, stress, emotional exhaustion and insomnia.
Marjoram’s powerful restorative properties make it an effective treatment for those who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome.
Sweet Marjoram also has a comforting and calming effect on the body, mind and emotions and promotes deep relaxation and release of long held mental and emotional patterns of tension and stress!
SOOTHING BATH EXPERIENCE: Blend 3 drops each of Marjoram, Lavender and Bergamot and mix in a dispersant such as a tablespoon of cream or honey, swish the water to disperse your Relaxing Bath Blend in the water.
OR ADD YOUR OILS to a half cup each of Epsom Salts (muscle relaxant, detoxifier) and Baking Soda (skin softener) to disperse the oils in your bath water.
Marjoram is a stimulating oil and an antispasmodic making it a nice addition to your sports massage oil blends for relieving muscular aches and pain. It is especially helpful for relieving tension in the upper back and neck regions.
To relax sore, tense or cramped muscles try this RELAXING COMPRESS:
Excellent for topical application to ease pain from strained muscles, menstrual cramps, etc. Disperse 4 drops each of Marjoram and Lavender oil in a teaspoon of cream or honey and add to a small stainless steel bowl of “HOT” water. Absorb the “HOT” water into a wash cloth, using protective gloves, wring out excess water and apply compress to area of discomfort, repeat when your cloth cools. You may cover the warm cloth with a plastic sheet or a towel to keep it “HOT” longer.
Use Marjoram along with Helichrysum for any sprains or strains to muscles, tendons and ligaments to speed healing of tissue and prevent restrictive scar tissue formation.
Sweet Marjoram may be helpful for relieving migraine and tension headaches!
HEALING MASSAGE OIL: To a 2 ounce dispensing bottle of pure light coconut oil add 3 drops each of Marjoram, Helichrysum, Peppermint and Lavender. Shake well to disperse your essential oils in the carrier oil. For best results allow to synergize for 24 hours before using.
A NOTE ABOUT CARRIER OILS: I highly recommend pure light coconut oil as the ideal carrier oil. Coconut oil is fully metabolized by the body and, unlike most oils, not absorbed into the fatty cells and tissues of the body, making it an ideal carrier for essential oils to move through the fat cells beneath the dermis and into the blood vessels serving muscles, etc. As well Light Coconut oil remains liquid at room temperature and, because of its light consistency, will not clog skin pores, making it suitable to use on sensitive or problem skin.
BLEND WITH: Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Ginger, Helichrysum, Lavender, Peppermint
CAUTION: As Marjoram is a stimulant it should be avoided during pregnancy.
