by KG Stiles, LMT, RBT, CBP, CAT
Pure essential oils have a wide range of therapeutic uses and benefits. The method applied can affect the results.
First, please remember that essential oils should never be applied neat (undiluted) to your skin. There are absolutely NO exceptions to this! This includes the soles of your feet or palms of your hands. When using oils neat for inhalation purposes please exercise care and dispense your oils on a tissue or cotton ball for direct inhalation.
AROMATIC MIST is a favorite way of KG’s for using aromatic oils. You may use your aromatic mist as a facial toner, an all over body freshener, or as a room spray and deodorizer. Here’s how:
The amount of oil you use depends on the purpose of your aromatic mist! Fill half of a 4 ounce colored glass atomizer bottle with distilled water, add your essential oil(s) then add more distilled water to fill your bottle, shake well and spray:
Guide for the amount of oil to use for a 4 ounce atomizer bottle:
1) Face – 8-10 drops
2) Body – 30-40 drops
3) Room and air freshener 80-100 drops
PLEASE NOTE: Essential oils are not water soluble so remember to shake your aromatic misting bottle a bit to disperse your oils each time before you spray.
Suggested Oils to Use: Lavender (Calms), Lemon (Kills germs, freshens), Himalayan or Atlas Cedarwood (Encouragement & support)
